The groups are for primary school aged students with learning disabilities as formally diagnosed by our psychologists or the equivalent.
The group is taught by a registered teacher with experience and qualifications in the Teaching of Individuals with Specific Learning Disabilities NZQA 2760 (or the equivalent).
The programme teaches literacy and numeracy in a structured, systematic, sequential manner that meets each student’s individual learning needs.
The sessions are held in our purpose-built facility at Seabrook McKenzie Centre, 68 London St. Richmond, Christchurch.
The student is enrolled in their mainstream school and with the approval of their principal, is enrolled with us for specialist teaching.
There will be a maximum of three students enrolled each morning. If a student cannot attend a morning due to illness or other valid reason, they may attend an alternative morning by arrangement with the teacher.
Sessions are held most mornings, depending on demand, in school term time only. Hours are from 9 am to 11:30 am.
The cost is $70 per morning. Parents are invoiced at the beginning of the term, for the term. Subsidies from our donors, may be available. Please ask.
Until December 2021, our Centre ran the Jean Seabrook Memorial School and was therefore registered with MOE. The vital policy documents still stand: especially the Child Protection Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Privacy Policy.
